In the first quarter of 2025, the top news and magazine apps on the Android platform in Kenya showcased varying trends in downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a closer look at their performance.

X (Formerly Twitter) from X Corp. saw a steady revenue increase, peaking at approximately $2.3K in early March. Downloads showed a decline from 28.4K to 18.5K over the quarter. However, weekly active users fluctuated, reaching a high of 3.2M in February before settling at 3M by the end of March.

Opera News: breaking & local experienced a significant drop in downloads from 21.4K in early January to 2.3K by late March. Despite this, active users increased consistently, peaking at over 215K in late March.

Citizen Digital maintained a steady download rate, starting at 14.4K and ending at 10.1K. Active users showed an increase early in the quarter, peaking at 234K in mid-February, before falling to 160K by the end of March.

Breaking News - Live Headlines downloads decreased from 18.7K to 5.9K throughout the quarter. Despite this, active users remained relatively stable, with a slight increase to 116K in March.

Mozzart Sport Kenya downloads showed an upward trend mid-quarter, reaching 6.3K in March. Active users also increased, peaking at 84K mid-March before declining slightly to 69K by the end of the quarter.
